About Us
In a small village in northern Thailand, there lives an ordinary family called the Wala family. They have been farming for generations, but in recent years, due to climate change and the sluggish market, the family's income has become increasingly difficult to maintain. In order to allow the two children to continue to go to school, Wala's wife Ponma decided to try to use the family's traditional craft - hand embroidery, to make some extra income.
Ponma's grandmother taught her to embroider handbags since she was a child, and she thought that maybe these bags could be sold at a good price in the market. At first, Ponma just used her free time in the evening, sitting on a bench at the door of her house, weaving the bag body with natural materials commonly found in the village and then embroidering it. This hand-weaving craft is both complicated and time-consuming, but she hopes to bring some changes to the family with these exquisite handmade bags.
Gradually, some women in the village also joined her. They were busy in the fields during the day, and gathered at Wala's house at night, chatting and embroidering. These bags not only carry their hopes, but also incorporate their hard work and traditions. The pattern of each embroidered bag is full of village stories and natural inspiration.
One day, the brand owner went to Chiang Mai for a trip and saw Ponma's bags at the local market. I was deeply attracted by the unique design and exquisite workmanship of the bags and asked about the origin of the bags. I was deeply impressed when I heard that these bags were handmade by a group of ordinary rural women. I bought all the bags and told Ponma that I had my own bag website and was willing to help them bring these handmade bags to the city for sale. At the same time, I am also a designer, and I will bring them more design inspiration, and we will work together to create more beautiful bags.
Since then, the family workshop of the Wala family has gradually improved, and the orders have increased. The women in the village no longer have to worry about income problems, and their children can continue to go to school. Ponma's handmade bags have not only become a source of life, but also a symbol of the tenacity and unity of rural women in Thailand. I am also very proud of this.
Whenever someone asks about the story of these bags, I am always happy to share the origin of these handmade bags with everyone, just as Ponma always says: "They are our hearts and our homes. Every stitch and thread is sewn with our hope and love."
